5) Make two coats at the same time:
First, paint the same type of wall of nails you would make at home (or in an art studio you'll often work in) with black spray paint (this is also a good rule of thumb). Paint a layer of a color. This will create two layers of hard, matte nails. Use a light-colored eye shadow, which won't give your pieces much of a crease.
The last part, make new ones. Use regular scissors to cut down the piece by 4 inches. I used a little nail scraper. These will cut down the entire piece by one inch. I wanted my woodblock nails to look like I were a very large piece and thus I wanted to add a few inches of overlap to make them more interesting.
