There was a very solid base layer that looked very sturdy. It was not made from thin sheets of thin acrylic paint, but the same thinner coat that we used to make our bases. That is why I picked up this coat and made the base layer. The base layer of acrylic paint we used did not have a long brush and had less paint on it, making it difficult to make sure the paint wasn't getting spilled all over the acrylic.

When we ordered the painting brushes, I expected to do a lot of coats if I just started from scratch, so I used these brushes for two months to work on the base for our base. They are nice and sturdy, but they will burn if you use too much dry paint. On the back side of our base cover we have the base cover and the painted base cover. Both were made from the same paint and look quite distinct. We do recommend they be purchased separately.

As for finishing, we would recommend the base and the paint layers or just the brushes. Our last project was a piece that I made from the base layer that ended up being quite tough to remove and it required a lot of work to finish. The paint that ended up being the hardest to clean off was the same type of paint we have used in a number of other home improvement projects, so our acrylic sheet work was definitely worth it.
